Brandy Wicklow, MD, FRCPC
Brandy Wicklow is a Pediatric Endocrinologist at the Winnipeg Children’s Hospital, an Assistant Professor at the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Pediatrics and Child Health, and a Clinical Researcher at the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba (CHRIM). She completed her clinical endocrinology fellowship at McGill University in 2008, followed by 2 years of a clinical research fellowship at the University of Manitoba in 2010. She completed a Master’s degree in Clinical Epidemiology in 2012 on the clinical utility of anthropometric measures in childhood to predict adult cardiometabolic risk. She is the principle investigator for a study looking at the developmental origins of type 2 diabetes in children and her current research endeavors look at the independent roles of gestational exposures, genetic risk and, post natal exposures on the development of obesity and type 2 diabetes in children. She is a member of the Diabetes research Envisioned and Accomplished in Manitoba (DREAM) Research Theme at CHRIM. She is the primary author for the Children’s Hospital of Winnipeg emergency department Diabetic Ketoacidosis Standard orders and practice guidelines and is involved with ongoing quality audits and research in the area of emergency and in hospital treatment of pediatric Diabetic Ketoacidosis.
