Reeni Soni, MD, FRCPC

 

Head, Section of Pediatric Cardiology and Director, Variety Children’s Heart Centre

 

After completing her undergraduate studies at McGill University, Dr. Soni went on to graduate from the Faculty of Medicine at University of Manitoba and completed her residency in General Pediatrics at Winnipeg Children’s Hospital. This was followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children in London, UK co-funded by a Commonwealth Medical Scholarship and Harry Medovy Fellowship.

Following completion of her Cardiology training, Dr. Soni returned to Winnipeg to join the Section of Pediatric Cardiology in 1998 and was subsequently appointed as Section Head in 2000. She served as President of the Canadian Pediatric Cardiology Association from 2007-2011 and has been the Deputy Chair of the Western Canadian Children’s Heart Network since 2012. She was awarded the YWCA Woman of Distinction Award in 2006 and the Pediatric Chairs of Canada Pediatric Academic Leadership Award in 2011.

In addition to a busy general Pediatric Cardiology practice, Dr. Soni’s primary areas of subspecialty practice are in the domains of Fetal Cardiology and Cardiac Transplantation. She is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and Child Health at the University of Manitoba.
